Instructor: Tara Brisbine

Have you ever looked at certain beads and known by their rustic, worn and sometimes even dirt-encrusted appearance that theyÆve had a past? Ever wondered where they were made, where theyÆve traveled, who has worn them, or better yet, what to do with them?

This is your opportunity to put those beauties to use in a way thatÆs actually wearable so you can enjoy them and show them off. The class will include design concepts and trade bead history. You will learn how to turn a flat, disc-shaped bead into a lovely spiral button for a closure. Tara will also show you how to create a beautiful pair of funky, bright, spiral earrings using Mali wedding beads, and how to make a wire bail on a cowrie shell so that it lies flat when you string it. This class is a must for anyone whose trade bead collection needs to be put to good use! Prepare to be amazed and inspired with what you come up with. Prerequisite: Must have knowledge of basic bead stringing, bead stringing with SoftFlex, and basic wire working skills.
